As an only daughter to parents who were survivors
of the holocaust, she carried their ongoing trauma and embraced their defense-mechanism
which manifested itself in shutting oneself up and a survivor's life-style. In her exciting
descriptions, Esther describes her childhood experiences for the readers, and illustrates
with a sensitive eye a sketch of her parents. Towards the end of her twenties, Esther
experienced one loss after another, losing her dear parents and son after the efforts of
conventional medicine failed to save their lives. That was the background to her growing
interest in homeopathy and Bach-remedies.

Until a few years ago, she was busy mainly with survival. As a separated wife, she was
forced to defend against her husband's lawsuits and became entrenched in her own life like
a soldier in a bunker. She managed her pharmacy and raised her two sons as a sole parent.
But life's hardships and the the "iron lady" image which she so successfully cultivated
didn't enable her to grieve over the loss of her dear ones. Over the years, the bereavement
and sorrow accumulated in the depths of her soul, until her body collapsed under the
emotional burden. During the process of recovery, Esther finally gave herself permission
to mourn the death of her beloved son. Thus began a significant journey from a land
of silence to a world of openness and creation.
Still in the midst of this journey, she is striving to break through the consistent wall
of silence in order to replace it with a new creation, a life-chain of openness and sharing
that will continue in the generations to come.
In the exposure of her life story and moving poems, Esther is conveying an important message
to her sons, that openness has a power to invite vitality, in the hope that they will not
adopt the patterns of survivors which took root in her family over the years.
Esther is painting, writing poetry, expressing and sharing.
Like a swan who looks around, and sees its own reflection with tranquility, self-approval
and love, she looks upon her life with deep understanding and recognition, and a wish to
provide a better future for her sons.

"People with the virtues of a swan can see the future, give themselves to the power of the
great spirit and accept the healing and transformation occurring in their lives"
From the book: Cards of Medicine (Indian cards) by Jamie Sames and David Carson

For the film click here (Hebrew)

From the Introductions:

A few months ago I met at a café a good friend, engaging in personal development. Suddenly
she spread on the table a packet of turned-over cards and suggested that I picked one out
of them, while concentrating on my past. The card I pick out had an image of an armadillo
whose entire body was buried in the ground. I concentrated again, this time on the present,
and miraculously on the card appeared the image of a beautiful swan with a long neck.
As it often happens, both pictures said more than a thousand words. Up to the moment I
turned from an armored armadillo into a serene swan observing his life out of self
awareness and understanding, I went through a long path strewed with obstacles.
In a painful process the armor that stuck to me was peeled off, and instead, a pair of
wings began growing. Today I am happy& Lightness and hovering replace the fortification,
the hiding and the lack of spontaneity.

The Swan Personal writing or a message to women wherever they are?

Writing the book was for Esther a catalyst for a transformative healing process.
As a result of this process she discovered her internal wisdom which is her power.
Esther's direction of development was from introversion and shutting herself up to
expression and extroversion, which enabled her to teach the way to many women who would
follow her in a healing process of their own.

Her message to the women is:
Dear women, you must not only give birth to babies, you must give birth to yourselves
all over again, meaning be attentive to your inner voice, allow yourselves to conceive
and give birth to who you really are, and create the reality of your lives instead of
waiting passively and crashing into the rocks of reality that is created on its own.

What didn't Esther know about herself?

Yes, she knew that she was responsible, organized, thorough and reliable. However,
has she ever imagined that Esti would procreate out of herself the Esther who knows
that she was such a pretty girl? Esther who is a brave woman? Creative? Spontaneous?
Emotional? A woman with incredible power? A happy spontaneous woman who sometimes lets
herself lark about as a child? Page after page Esther writes, as if weaving thread to
thread the fabric of her life, being exposed to her own self no less than to us,
the readers.

(The writer is Tamar Zitrus, Esther's student of Intuitive Painting and an art critic.

Readers write:

Hi Esti,

A fascinating book, simply flowing and connects to your personal story.
